FAMILY NEWS
Because pretty pictures are usually necessary for blog posts at Back Porch Musings, I’ve added these photos from March ‘11. I planned a completely different post for this morning, but real life came along. Since I am a fly by the seat of my pants blogger, there are no drafts, stored away, to draw upon.
I thought it over for awhile before deciding to post something this morning. Those of you who are Friends on my personal Facebook page got the news yesterday. After a pretty good night’s sleep I thought it only fair to add a note here at the Back Porch for you, dear reader.
With apologies for using old photos.
The getaway I wrote about in the previous post, is scheduled for March, therefore, we were still at home when we received one of those calls you hope you don’t receive. Youngest daughter was taken to ER Sunday morning, with symptoms of stroke. She remains in hospital and will have tests today (Monday). At this time physicians believe it was a TIA. For information about TIA’s click HERE.
Gabi and Drew’s mommy’s speech was slurred and her face and hand were numb. TIA symptoms are similar to stroke symptoms, but often subside within hours. By noon, Sunday, M’s speech was okay and the numbness had disappeared. She had a headache that lasted all day and lessened toward evening. We hope to know more after additional tests. Apparently some sort of earlier injury was seen on the CT scan, taken yesterday. We know of no previous brain injury. Hoping there is no earlier brain injury and we find out more after an MRI and other testing.
Youngest daughter is 41 years old. She has had a few minor health issues over the years that seem to have been resolved the past few years. We were taken by surprise yesterday morning.
Gabi came home with us Sunday evening and will spend the day, since it is a holiday. Drew is with another daughter. Their dad is with their mommy.
I plan to return to regular blogging Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope to have an update then.
If you know us and/or have visited BPM for lo these many years, you know our family meets life challenges head on. There have been a few of those over the past few years. As with all of those previous challenges, we remain optimistic and continue to count our blessings.
Thanks so much for understanding about my archive posts and thanks to you dear loyal readers, for continuing to be there over my 6 years in the land of blog!
