“Ticket and Passport.”

“Here ya go.”

“Where are you traveling from?”

“South Korea.”

“Specifically?”

“I flew in from Seoul.”

“How long were you in South Korea?”

“One month.”

“What was the nature of your visit?”

“I was studying culinary arts. I was studying molecular gastronomy in Jeonju.”

“Where’s that?”

“Still in South Korea.”

“You didn’t go anywhere else?”

“No.”

“You’ve never been to North Korea?”

“No!”

“Ok, do you have anything you’d like to declare?”

“No?”

“Is there anything else you’d like to tell me.”

“No.”

“Security!”

  1. This makes me cringe, since I’ve been in those sort of border-check situations a lot. I guess never answer a question with “No?”
I liked the mention of Jeonju, by the way. 🙂

  2. Abraham says:

LOLL!! So what was a safer answer? – “No.” or “No!” or “Yes!” or “Yes”…

  3. Now that you mention it, I think the person on the ground is wearing a TSA uniform. 🙂 I hope you haven’t been experiencing this a lot lately, but there are so many horror stories.

  4. Iris says:

It must be horrible if you are the one standing there but pretty hilarious if you are sitting safely at your PC. Very nice!

  5. Sandra says:

Ugh, nightmare scenario that seems to repeat every time I fly these days. Nicely done.

  6. love the simplicity of the last part. I speaks volumes.

  7. nightlake says:

and wonder what happens next..a very nice read.

  8. deanabo says:

This is a really good take on the prompt…

  9. Simple, but very effective. Tension built perfectly! I felt her rising dismay.

  10. With your clipped and stellar dialogue you made me feel Jan’s mounting irritation. Ah the joys of travel . Hope her stay in South Korea made it worth it.

  13. billgncs says:

which country is more restrictive? Love to travel, hate traveling.

  14. Shiver at the thought of standing in front of the custom trying to explan myself. Say not to little and not to much. And with a terrible jet-lag,,,

  15. rich says:

that’s a good reason to call security! well done.
